The final assembly line for the Saab F-39E Gripen fighter jet in Brazil was inaugurated at the Embraer factory in Gavião Peixoto (SP).
This final assembly line for the Saab Gripen E is the only one outside of Sweden and is part of the agreement to supply 36 units of the fourth-and-a-half-generation fighter jet to the Brazilian Air Force, including the single-seater “E” and the two-seater “F”.

Under the agreement, Embraer will assemble 15 of the 28 Gripen E version units that will be operated in Brazil, as well as opening the possibility that the Brazilian assembly line will be used for Gripen production for possible future customers in Latin America.
The Gripen airframe components will be received from the Saab factory in Linköping (Sweden) and São Bernardo do Campo (SP), where Saab has an industrial unit. In the assembly line, the combat aircraft will be produced by joining these airframe components, installing wiring, equipping various systems, landing gear, avionics, tactical equipment, canopy, ejection seat, and engine.
After the fighter jet assembly is completed, functional tests and production flights are carried out to prepare the aircraft for final delivery. The units assembled in Brazil will be delivered from 2025.
